Foroige NFTE Programme

As part of the TY enterprise programme this year students took part in the Foroige NFTE programme. All businesses were extremely successful but two special companies made it through to the semi-finals. Shake it Make it Bake it & Our Quick Shop made the top 40 out of almost 3000 entries in the programme this year. Congratulations to both businesses!!! A well-deserved day in The Lighthouse Cinema in Dublin was earned at the Finals of the competition where they received their certificates and awards. Well done to all 10 students – Your hard work and dedication shone through and we in Ardscoil Phadraig have no doubt we will be seeing these bright and budding young Entrepreneurs in the future. A sincere thank you to Ms. Murtagh for all her work and guidance throughout the year

Darkness into Light

Well done to all students, staff and parents who joined the Ardscoil Phádraig group in the Darkness into Light walk for Pieta House at The Mall, Longford. Huge credit is due to the organisers of this event in Longford for their attention to detail and the creation of such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. A special thank you goes to John and Kathleen Maguire who very kindly sponsored bus transport for our students.

Active Schools Week

Our Active Schools Week finished on Friday last with a 4km run/walk in the sunshine. First years also gave a fantastic gymnastics performance while 2nd year students took part in rounders. Many thanks to Ms. Magan, Ms. Conlon and our Active Schools Committee for all their hard work in organising such a fantastic week of activities, reminding us all of the positive impact that physical activity can have on both our physical and mental wellbeing

Fifth Year Art

The fifth year art class are working on “Zines” with artist Marian Balfe. A “Zine” is a handmade booklet on a specific topic (the word comes from magazine). The 5th Years have researched stories that were written by local schoolchildren from the 1930s of folklore, famous people and fairies! They will create and illustrate the zines to suit their chosen story. We look forward to the finished product next week. Thanks to Mr. Buckley and Ms. Cooney for facilitating this workshop.

First Year Materials Technology Wood

Well done to our first year Materials Technology Wood students who have created some fantastic pieces of work this year in Ms. Mulligan’s class. They also held a very tense ‘Race Car Derby’ competition in which Declan Murphy came away with first prize followed closely by Enda Hartin in 2nd place. Well done to Jack Kennedy who won the prize for best design.
