School Notes – 21st December, 2018

Christmas Wreaths

On Wednesday evening last Parents and Students from Ardscoil Phádraig came together to attend our Annual Flower Arranging evening hosted by the Home School Community Liaison Teacher. It was a great opportunity for all who attended to meet fellow parents and students in a relaxing atmosphere whilst creating their own fabulous Christmas Centrepiece. Lots of fun and laughs were had and both students and parents alike are already looking forward to next year’s event.

Good Luck

Ardscoil Phadraig was sad to say goodbye to a wonderful student this week. Martine Heck De Las Moremas returned to Spain last Friday after spending time learning in our school since September. It was a pleasure to get to know Martina and we wish her the very best in the future.

The Credit Union Poster Competition

Congratulations to Joshua Feeney, Ardscoil Phádraig who was awarded 1st place in the 14-17 years category of The Credit Union Poster Competition, Chapter Level 2018. Here he is being presented with his Certification and cheque for €65 by Marie Scanlon Granard Credit Union. Thanks to all the staff at Granard Credit Union and happy spending Josh.

Mullinalaghta Visit

Huge congratulations to all in St. Columba’s Mullinalaghta GAA on a wonderful achievement of winning the Leinster Senior Football Final. Members of the team were welcomed to our school with a well-deserved rapturous cheer on Tuesday afternoon. Thanks to all the lads who took time out of their busy schedule to visit us – we really appreciated it.

Cinema Visit

Students from Clann Lir, Tir na nOg and Cluain Eala got a special treat this Thursday when they were brought to the cinema in Cavan to see The Grinch. They had a great day out and it certainly put everyone in the Christmas spirit!

Christmas Exams

Christmas Exams are currently taking place and we hope that all the hard work pays off.

Happy Christmas

We would like to wish all students, staff and parents a very Happy Christmas and a relaxing holiday time.

Christmas Draw

Thanks to everyone who bought tickets for the school raffle, the proceeds of which were going towards the purchase of sports gear. Results of raffle will be published next week.

Christmas Jumper Day

The Pupil Voice Committee organised a Christmas Jumper Day last Monday in aid of our ASD Unit. There was also a bake sale, treats, raffles & festive music to mark the end of another successful term at Ardscoil Phádraig.

School Digital

Four Transition Year students attended a skills training day in Dublin recently as part of The School Digital Champion Programme. This programme was launched as part of the National Digital Strategy to promote digital adoption and encourage the productive use of technology by students. Our students are currently researching the development of an app and we look forward to using the finished product.

Information Evening for Incoming First Years

We were delighted to welcome back all incoming first years with their parents last week for an information meeting. Students chose their subject options for September after presentations on the various subjects given by our current first and second year students.
