School Notes – 19th January, 2018

Welcome Back

We wish to say a warm welcome back to all students and staff as we begin another term. We hope you are all feeling refreshed after the Christmas break. We wish everyone the best of luck in the year ahead.

Christmas Exams

Well done to all students who are currently receiving the results of their Christmas exams. Keep up the hard work in 2018.

Young Scientist

TY students Brad Flynn and Patrick Reilly represented the school with their teacher Mr Domican, at the Young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS. Their project, entitled ‘Bird Boxes; Are They of Any Benefit?’ is an investigation into the GLAS scheme which focuses on the rural environment, particularly on the preservation of various habitats and species, mitigating climate change and improving water quality. Well done to the boys for getting to this stage of the competition. Full report next week.

Our Transition Year students are looking forward to starting their karate module next week. This module will continue for three weeks.

Project Maths for Parents

Project Maths classes for parents will resume from the end of this month. This is a great opportunity for parents to equip themselves to help their child with their Maths homework. For further information, please contact Ms Reilly.

Study Skills

On Wednesday 24th January, we will welcome Michael Bond back to the school to deliver workshops to our Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate students. The workshops will focus on study skills and have always proven to be very beneficial to our students.

Assessment Morning

Saturday 13th January will see the first year students of September 2018 welcomed to the school for their assessments. We look forward to seeing you there.

Parent Teacher Meeting

A parent teacher meeting for second year students will take place on Thursday 18th January. We look forward to seeing you there.

Mocks Examinations

We wish to remind all third and sixth year students that their mock examinations will begin on January 29th. Best wishes to all as they prepare for these important exams.
