U16 60m Sprint at the Connacht Indoor Championships

Huge congratulations to our sprint star, 3rd Year student Funmi Talabi, who added another Connacht title to her long list of accolades as she captured gold in the U16 60m Sprint at the Connacht Indoor Championships which took place in AIT last weekend. We also congratulate Funmi’s sister Yemi and all members of Longford AC who brought a hugely impressive haul of medals home from last weekend’s event.

ESB Networks Longford Interviews

We wish to extend a sincere thank you to Padraig Dillon and his team from ESB Networks Longford who conducted interviews with our 5th Year LCVP students this week. These interviews are a continuation of the fantastic Schools Business Partnership Programme which has been in place between our school and ESB Networks Longford since 2012. The programme provides students with a fantastic insight into the world of work as well as invaluable information on CV preparation and interview skills. Well done to all students who really impressed the ESB Networks team during the interviews and thank you to Ms. Rushe and Ms. Kelly for their work in facilitating this brilliant initiative.

Boys’ Basketball

First Years faced Mercy Secondary School Kilbeggan and were extremely unlucky to finish on the wrong side of a four point margin at the final this week.

Well done to our 2nd Year boys’ basketball team who got their season off to a winning start with a comfortable victory over Mercy Secondary School Kilbeggan this week. Six points from

Second Year boys’ basketball team who got their season off to a winning start with a comfortable victory over Mercy Secondary School Kilbeggan this week.

Philip Curran in the first quarter and some excellent work under the boards from Luke Sheridan and Leo Temple set the tone for what was an excellent team performance throughout. Our 1st Years faced the same opposition and were extremely unlucky to finish on the wrong side of a four point margin at the final buzzer despite the best efforts of Diarmuid Glennon, Rian Browne and Jack Reilly who really led by example in their first outing in the Ardscoil Phádraig colours. We wish both teams and their mentors Ms. Boudin and Ms. Doyle well as they continue to progress through the group stages over the coming weeks.
